Thousands of new homes coming to St Marys CBD
Buildings of up to 18 storeys will be permitted near the new Metro station under a state-government planning package.
Thousands of new homes will be delivered in St Marys, with buildings of up to 18 storeys permitted within 400 metres of the new Sydney Metro station under a planning package announced today.
The State Government, in conjunction with Penrith City Council, has rezoned 47 hectares around the future St Marys interchange to allow a combination of high-density residential, mixed-use and ground-floor retail.
Londonderry MP Prue Car said the rezoning would unlock approximately 7,500 new dwellings over fifteen years, including a minimum 15 percent affordable-housing component on government-owned sites.
Mayor Todd Carney said Council had negotiated hard for binding infrastructure contributions. "We have learned the lesson of growth without infrastructure. This package has schools, open space and stormwater built in from day one."
