Mamre Road Stage 2 upgrade gets green light
Federal and state funding for the $1 billion Stage 2 upgrade has been finalised, with construction to begin in late 2026.
Construction of the $1 billion Mamre Road Stage 2 upgrade will begin in late 2026 after the Federal Government finalised its $500 million funding contribution this week.
The project will widen Mamre Road to four lanes between Erskine Park Road and Elizabeth Drive, a corridor that has carried more than 30,000 vehicles per day since the Mamre Road industrial precinct opened in 2023.
Transport for NSW Project Director Kim Chai said the works would include three new signalised intersections, a dedicated freight lane during morning peak, and a shared user path along the entire corridor.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the project was "essential, not optional" for the western parts of the LGA. Completion is scheduled for late 2029.
